Following Tim’s lead I did an Iron Butt Association Saddle Sore 1,000 ride on Friday. Stayed in Texas and went NW of Houston as I had ridden NE several times for BMR. Total mileage was 1,038 in 17:30. Temp got up to 104, I drank 3 100 oz Camel backs from my tank bag and 4 large gator ades at gas stops.

Interesting scenery included LBJ state park and huge wind farms. Hill country around Austin is also nice.

The FJR is a good bike for this type of ride – very smooth, cruise control and electric windscreen to adjust airflow.

Had a fun day, different than BMR as the only stops were gas and rest / food Sent the paperwork in, $46 to be an Iron Butt is good value compared to Ironman.

Well, I finally completed a SS1000. Just need to get my documents together and mail it all in and then wait. I rode from home out to Missoula, MT and back on I-90. Approximately 1029 miles (by GPS) in 16 hours and 37 minutes. It was a beautiful and hot day all the way.

How The West Was Won

Now that the 2014 BMR has come to a close, I’d like to invite you all to join us for the How The West Was Won Rally in Colorado this July. We still have a bit of room left, and we’d love to have some seasoned BMR riders in the mix :) . Registrations will stay open through June 25th. However, riders that register after June 1 are not guaranteed a rally shirt as the order will be going out early June. We have an awesome group or riders so far, and even awesomer staff. Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.

Never been to this place before the BMR 2014 and it’s in the frickin’ news today.  Somebody robbed it at SWORD point!

And, I’m not making this up….the owner defended himself with a golf club and crook rode away on a BMX bicycle.
